Irene (Rene) Rhoda Tilke

   Another name for Irene was Doll.

Source = Cynthia Foley (Grandmother of Corey Gilchrist, who is a Grandson of Norman Gilchrist & Tui Olga Lewis. Most information seem to have come from Yvonne Lewis.

Reg was gassed at the Somme - convalesced in Uk where he met Irene, married, then returned to NZ.
Regimental No 32199. Rank - Rifleman.
Reg's father was so pleased with him that he apparently gave him a Rolls Royce (valued at five thousad pounds). Reg was an inveterate gambler & had lost the lot within a year.
Irene left Reg & took both herself & Tui from New Zealand to Australia. Reg followed later.
Irene was very much into the social scene after coming to Australia. Not so Reginald.

Irene was high up in the Labour Party of NSW, & president of the Justice of Peace Association in Sydney. She was often overseas. (Bexley Ladies College ?)

Irene married Reginald Lambert Lewis on 9 Jul 1919 in Somerset, Somersetshire England. (Reginald Lambert Lewis was born circa 1895 and died in 1974 in Sydney, NSW Australia.)
