1841 census: Truro St Mary, Quay 1: Jim Truscott notes: John Truscott was born or baptized on 24 January 1808 at Liskeard and he was the only son of Charles and Grace Truscott. John Truscott was a bachelor and an agricultural labourer at Tywardreath, Cornwall when he married Jane May Kinsman, spinster and servant of Tywardreath on 29 November 1838. Jane was the daughter of Melchesidec Kinsman, a miner and she was born in 1813. At the time of the ceremony both John and Jane were of full age. The witnesses to the marriage were William Truscott and Elizabeth Daddow. John and Jane May Truscott had four daughters and one son. On 19 April 1842 he was recorded as a servant when he registered the birth of his only son John Charles Truscott, before the register and his wife Jane May Truscott (nee Kinsman). John Truscott died on 12 March 1874 and Jane May Truscott died on 10 July 1875. They were both alive when their son John Charles Truscott and his wife Elizabeth Truscott returned to Cornwall in 1870
