Winifred was born, as was her elder sister, Thelma, at Pitt Row and she worked firstly with Haslam's Drapery at Redfern. During the Great Depression Iris and her sister shared a job of work, a sometimes necessity of the day. They would each work every second fortnight. Later Iris worked for her brother Wallace in his shop at the corner of Midson Road at Epping. On 25 August 1957 she married her first cousin Keith McDonald. He was born 25 November 1910, the son of Albert McDonald and Emily (nee Bellamy). Their marriage was held at the Sydney Registry Office and after living at the family home in Ryde Street, Epping for a few years they joined Iris' younger brother, John, in a more rural life style at Ellalong, a small township southeast of Cessnock, NSW. It was there that Iris died on 25 August 1978. Keith died on Sept. 7 1983 at 'Allendale' a nursing home north of Cessnock. Both were cremated at Beresfield Crematorium.
Iris married Keith McDonald, son of Albert S. McDonald and Emily Bellamy, on 25 Aug 1957 in Sydney Registry Office, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Keith McDonald was born on 25 Nov 1910, died on 7 Sep 1983 in "Allandale Nursing Home", Cessnock, NSW Australia and was buried in Beresfield Crematorium, Newcastle, NSW Australia.)
