General Notes:
Peter Morris notes: The surviving child of the union of James and Ann Bellamy, young John, returned to the Carlingford area with his mother in the middle of 1852. He also became an orchardist and lived for the most part in Murray Farm Road. His daughter, Ida Franks (91 years old in 1981) remembers that her father was not well treated by his mother and stepfather, Issac Mobbs Jnr. On November 10th, 1870 John married Susannah Hockley at St.Paul's, Carlingford and so started a long Bellamy family association with this little but historic church which is sited in Marsden Road. Recently when St.Paul's Church moved to new premises it appeared likely that developers would demolish the old church building, however, it has now come under the control of the National Trust and is being preserved. John Thomas Bellamy died on the 29th December of 1905 and is buried at St.Paul's, Church of England cemetery at Carlingford, now hidden away by suburban development. His death certificate incorrectly records that his father was John Bellamy (the informant was his brother-in-law, Ephraim Hockley) and this has led to considerable confusion and mistakes, e.g. the first edition of Pioneers of Hornsby Shire.
Noted events in his life were:
• connection. 869
• connection. 19
John married Susannah Hockley, daughter of Ephraim Hockley and Isabella Lawson. (Susannah Hockley was born in 1849 and died in 1919.). The cause of her death was suicide.
