'William Bealby Hackett owned a Funeral Emporium at the Elelphant & Castle. He was wealthy and able to retire in his late 40's. He and his wife (Sarah Tilke) attended Spurgeons Tabernacle at the Elephant & Castle having put a lot of money into it. For their Diamond wedding anniversary they were presented with a set of chairs. Their sons were Samuel Tilke, William & George Clayton (Victoria Hacketts Grandfather). George was profoundly deaf but a lithographic draftsman & I have the special gift that he gave them - a large framed set of verses about the couple'

I have never found any information about William Bealby Hackett being an undertaker, only a linen draper. Although I guess he may have supplied fabrics to the funeral trade. I'd be really interested to know anything further about the undertaker reference.

William married Sarah Tilke, daughter of Joel Tilke and Sarah Berry, on 25 Dec 1844 in Newington, Kent England. (Sarah Tilke was born circa 1821 in Harrow On The Hill, Middlesex England and died in 1902 in Camberwell, South London, Surrey England.)
