My records are slightly different but I notice that this information has been researched by Claire Hughes & John and Heather Gilbert. My grandfather's only sister Iris Myrtle married a Gilbert. Their elder brother Richard Alexander Ralph was killed on the Somme in 1918, aged 19 and only a short time after that Eliza died at the age of 47. The Johnston family, George and Roy in particular were significant mentors and guardians, in a ways, to my Grandfather who was 16 at the time of his mother's death.

William married Isabel Auld in 1905. (Isabel Auld was born in 1881 in Bendigo, Victoria Australia and died on 9 Jul 1951 in Alexandra, Victoria Australia.)
