Research Notes:
Ted & Ronda Collins notes: The following needs telling because I have seen so many (seriously) wrong stories floating around the web - Elizabeth (Mary Crew), came to Australia with Charles and Susan Pennell (nee Crew) and was listed on the ship as a "Pennell" *. She stayed with her Aunt Maria and Uncle John Bradfield in Ipswich until she was about nine years old. After her father (Wm Henry Crew snr), remarried (Ann Jane Webb), she went to live with him in Rockhampton, Qld. *The reason Elizabeth was in the care of her Aunt Susan & Uncle Charles Pennell was because her father, William Henry Crew, was travelling as a single man on the same vessel; William Henry's wife Elizabeth (nee Nicholls) had died in England. This is the reason for William coming to Australia, to start a new life.
It needs to be noted that "Aunt Maria" was an Older Sister of Both Willian Henry Crew (jnr) and Susan Crew. Maria Crew (1828) married John Edward Bradfield (b.1823); (m.1846). During 1856, John & Maria decided to emigrate to Australia. They arrived in Queensland aboard the vessel "New Great Britain" on the 6 Jan 1857, moving to Ipswich soon after arriving.
Noted events in his life were:
• connection. 394
William married Elizabeth Nicholls in 1853.394 (Elizabeth Nicholls was born circa 1835 394 and died in 1857 394.)
William next married Ann Jane Webb in 1862.394 (Ann Jane Webb was born in 1847 394.)
