Thomas (and his wife's younger brother Donald) were brought out by a H. Scope of Liverpool and were to be paid 2 pounds and 2 shillings a week, without board. There was an undertaker named Henry Scope in Liverpool; were Thomas and Donald employed to make coffins for him?

Thomas married Fanny Nicholson, daughter of Donald Nicholson and Mary Margaret MacDougall, on 20 Oct 1829 in Culag, Lochinver, Assynt, Sutherlandshire Scotland. (Fanny Nicholson was christened on 22 Jun 1805 in Assynt, Sutherlandshire, Scotland UK and died in 1898 in Balmain North, Sydney, NSW Australia.)
