It is recorded that he died in Merv (Mary) Turkmenistan . Heaven alone knows what he was doing there! Merv in it's hey day was an important city on the ancient silk route so it is possible that he had become some kind of travelling merchant. There were not any recorded wars in the region at the time of his death so he cannot have been there for military purposes…a mystery still to be solved! There is no record of when his wife Elizabeth died.
