General Notes: Probably came to Australia 1879 aboard the Smyrna (or maybe 1880 on the Norval). Owned land around Byangum, Tweed River district in far northern NSW. In the early 1900s moved to Sydney and lived at 50 Denham Street Glebe with first wife Noted events in his life were: • Occupation: Carter. • Religion: Probably 1879 aboard the 'Smyrna'. John married Katherine Playsted, daughter of Alfred Baker Playsted and Ann Gadd, on 8 Feb 1888 in St Simon & St Judes C of E, Surry Hills, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Katherine Playsted was born on 14 Oct 1847 in Wadhurst, East Sussex England, died on 14 Jun 1902 in 50 Denham St, Glebe, Sydney, NSW Australia and was buried on 15 Jun 1902 in Waverley Cemetery, Sydney, NSW Australia C Of E, No. 3871-2.) John next married Minnie Louise King on 25 Mar 1903 in Balmain, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Minnie Louise King was born in 1879 in West Maitland, NSW Australia and died on 25 Nov 1960.) |
