Douglas William Stride AO Banking

(1911-1995)
Douglas Stride was Managing Director of former Commercial Bank of Australia 1971-1978. He worked for the bank for 50 years.  After retiring from the bank he was appointed chairman of the Australian Dried Fruits Corporation in January 1979.  He was a very generous benefactor of many organisations helping needy people.
In 1978 he was awarded the Order of Australia for his distinguished services to banking.

Douglas married Eunice Dorothy Thorn, daughter of John Frank Thorn and Dorothy Ansted, on 25 Feb 1939 in Caulfield, Melbourne, Victoria Australia. (Eunice Dorothy Thorn was born in 1915 in Malvern, Melbourne, Victoria Australia, died on 29 Nov 1972 in Hawthorn, Melbourne, Victoria Australia and was buried on 30 Nov 1972 in Cremated at Springvale Crematorium, Victoria Australia (Ashes Collected).)
