Ernest: The ashes of Don and Mercy were mixed together, by request of Mercy before her death, and scattered at the waters edge of the Dee Why swimming baths. This was where all her children grew up and she believed that,that was the happiest time of her life and she wanted to return there.

Ernest married Eva Mercy (Mercy) Bennett, daughter of Henry (Harry) Bennett and Margaret Ellen Warby, on 28 Mar 1936 in St James Anglican Church, West Kogarah, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Eva Mercy (Mercy) Bennett was born on 4 Oct 1906 in Elsmore, NSW Australia, christened on 25 Dec 1908 in Anglican Church, Elsmore, NSW Australia, died on 13 May 1994 in John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, NSW Australia and was buried in Newcastle crematorium, Beresfield, NSW Australia.)
