General Notes:
Wendy Henwood notes:
I think that your Mary Sarah Carlin, born about 1842, is the aunt of your Alice May *Calin* born 10 Jan 1905.
This is a new branch to me, but from what I've found so far it looks like:
James Carlin had four children: Mary (m Edward Grant Hood), James, Charles, and Francis
Francis married twice - at least four children from his second marriage to Alice Thompson: Arthur William, 1899, Allen Francis, 1901, and Alice May, 1905

Up till the time of his death he could entertain his many friends with stories of the early days of the district. He could remember the first rabbit in the district and for a time was employed by the late Mr. R. M. Gardiner, Mt. Schank, shooting the new pest on the estate. He also remembered the cutting of the road through Guyer's Hill, a few miles north of Port Mac Donnell, and which he used to say broke three contractors. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
