Lyn Millington notes: He came out to Australia about 1851. No record located of how or exactly when. Charles first married Alice Rachel Robberds 5 Nov 1862 in Sydney, who had been previously married to Jacob W. Lotze. He had died 17 Jul 1860 Sydney, and Alice was left with three girls by Jacob. He had described himself on this marriage certificate asa gentleman. It is said he had been kept by his father of London up till now. His father went bankrupt in London England about this time. After this marriage Charles commenced working as a clerk for the Railway Company that was building the railway out to Bathurst as a Clerk (Bookkeeper). Two children born, boy & girl but both died not long after births. Alice died after a long illness, in June 1870 at Tindales Hollow the Railway Camp set up for Railway workers just outside of Bathurst, He married Rosetta FELSTEAD, daughter of Benjamin Felstead and Lydia HUTCHIN on 13 Oct 1870 at the residence of Rev Charles Olden of the Wesleyan church at Bathurst. After the rail link arrived at Bathurst and completed finally he settle there and was seen working as an accountant.
