Trove 1904 Murdo (Bert as Groomsman) The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate (NSW : 1894 - 1954) Saturday 27 August 1904 WEDDING Glover-Dowling. A VERY pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Mary's Church, East Balmain, on the 2nd August, by Canon Archdall, M.A., the contracting parties being Mr. Hedley R. E. Glover, second son of M. C. Glover, of Dubbo, and Miss Edith Dowling, youngest daughter of the late John Dowling, of Dubbo and Bourke. The bridewas given away by her brother (Mr. John Dowling), and was daintily dressed in white book muslin trimmed with Valenciennes lace and insertion, and wore the customary wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet of carnations and lilies of the valley, the only ornament worn being a pearl and torquoise star, gift of the bridegroom. The brides- maids (Miss Annie Dowling, sister of the bride, Miss Eva Glover, sister of the bride- groom, and Mies Bella Cross, consin of the bride), wore cream voile trimmed with applique, and carried shower bouquets of red carnations and autumn leaves, and wore pearl and torquoise pendants, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. George Cross as best man, and Mr. Bert Matheson as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in the School of Arts, where the customary toasts were honoured. The bride's going away drees was of pastel blue silk voile, silk ruchings, and yac luce, black picture hat. Amongst the guests invited to the ceremony were :-Mrs. Matheson (aunt of bride), who wore black merv silk trimmed with Chantilly lace; Mrs. Glover (mother of bridegroom), black silk trimmed with chi?on applique; Miss Brownlow, Mrs. King, Mrs. Burns, Mrs. and Miss Burge, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong, Mr. and Mrs. Hickson, the Misses Matheson, Mr., Mrs. and Miss Harders, Miss Johnson, Mr. B. Matheson, Miss Orchard, Miss Grace Brown (Bourke), Miss Josephson (Blayney), Mr. W. Matheson, Master Selwyn Glover, Mr. G. Cross, Miss Sproxton, Miss Newman, Mr. Schoe?eld, Miss Hears, Miss Roper (Bathurst), Mr. H. Cross, Mr. S. Williams,Miss Williams.
