General Notes: John was the licensed for the "NARRAWA INN" in 1854-56. John and Mary arrived in N.S.W in 5th Nov 1841 on the "Fairlie" as assisted passengers. Sailing with them were William Frost (1816), Ellen Frost (1822) & Thomas Frost. They settled in Wheo, a sparsley populated community in rolling hills about 160 miles south west of Sydney, According to Grevilles 1872 Post Office directory, John Millane sn, was a farmer in Wheeo, his son John Millane jn was also a farmer and mail contractor, whilst John Millane farmed at Grabbengullan, Gullen. Thomas Frost was also a farmer in the area, along with Michael Frost, a mail contractor, Noted events in his life were: • source. • connection. John married Mary Frost, daughter of James Frost and Honora (Mary) Ryan, on 17 Feb 1828 in Parteem. County Clare, Ireland UK. (Mary Frost was born in 1805 in County Clare, Ireland UK and died on 23 Feb 1888 in Wheeo, near Crookwell, NSW Australia.) |
